About Lesson

Welcome to the FTR Review Guide

Now that you’ve completed the self-assessment and addressed any gaps, it’s time for the next step: the Foundational Technical Review (FTR) itself. This is a formal review conducted by AWS to verify your solution meets the technical and operational standards required for co-sell readiness and advanced partner benefits.

In this module, we’ll walk you through what to expect during the FTR process and how to prepare using the official AWS Review Guide.

Why This Topic Matters

Passing the FTR is a major unlock for ISVs in the AWS Partner Network. It is a prerequisite for Co-Sell Ready status, participation in AWS Marketplace programs, and often a requirement for accessing funding or go-to-market support.

A smooth, successful FTR demonstrates your product is secure, reliable, and supportable—and it builds trust with AWS field sellers and technical stakeholders.

What You’ll Learn

By the end of this module, you’ll understand:

  • What happens during an FTR and who participates

  • How to prepare your team and documentation

  • What AWS is looking for in each area of the review

  • How to respond to findings or required remediations

  • What success looks like and how to track your results in the Partner Scorecard

What’s Included

To help you prepare for a successful FTR, this module includes:

  • The official AWS FTR Review Guide (available in the exercise files)

Cost Optimization

Issue: Small AWS deployment with little management oversight and a lack of cloud skills internal to the organization moving from traditional infrastructure to SaaS and cloud based solutions.

What we did

  1. AWS Audit
  2. Cost Optimization Review
  3. Ongoing Monitoring

Result:

  • Eliminated unused storage volumes and the old application server no longer in use, the charges for AWS resulted in a savings of 51% per month.
  • We’ll continue to monitor AWS billing and finance to ensure maintenance of savings and identify other future changes.
