About Lesson

Welcome to the Partner Business Plan

Success in the AWS ecosystem doesn’t happen by chance—it’s built on strategy, structure, and alignment. The Partner Business Plan is your opportunity to set clear goals, define joint priorities with AWS, and create an actionable roadmap for growth.

In this module, you’ll use a guided template to build a plan that not only supports your internal strategy but also aligns with AWS’s sales and partner teams—unlocking more meaningful collaboration, co-sell activity, and GTM support.

Why This Topic Matters

AWS Partner Development Managers (PDMs), field sellers, and marketing teams all work better with partners who bring a clear, shared business plan to the table. This plan:

  • Defines how your solutions map to AWS focus areas

  • Sets measurable revenue, marketing, and co-sell goals

  • Identifies key joint motions (industry focus, campaigns, events, etc.)

  • Gives AWS a reason to invest more deeply in your growth

Well-prepared business plans lead to more pipeline, better visibility, and stronger AWS field engagement.

What You’ll Learn

By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:

  • Develop a formal Partner Business Plan that aligns with your AWS goals

  • Identify your top initiatives across sales, marketing, solution development, and enablement

  • Align internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, and delivery

  • Share and iterate on the plan with your PDM or AWS account contacts

Cost Optimization

Issue: Small AWS deployment with little management oversight and a lack of cloud skills internal to the organization moving from traditional infrastructure to SaaS and cloud based solutions.

What we did

  1. AWS Audit
  2. Cost Optimization Review
  3. Ongoing Monitoring

Result:

  • Eliminated unused storage volumes and the old application server no longer in use, the charges for AWS resulted in a savings of 51% per month.
  • We’ll continue to monitor AWS billing and finance to ensure maintenance of savings and identify other future changes.
